Club News

The UARC has gotten off to a wonderful start this year. So far we have hosted our first specialty of 2009 at the PA Convention in Feb, and there are several other shows planned for the coming months. In addition to this, we are in the beginning stages of planning a fiber gathering, possibly this fall, to ensure that the club is offering an equal number of fiber-related activities aside from the show schedule. We have also put a Sweepstakes program into place that began accumulating points for members at the PA Convention. There will be a page of our website devoted to the Sweepstakes Standings for every year, and Herdsman points will be included in that program, along with an eventual Meat Pen classification for commercial bodied angora breeds.
In addition to these recent activities we also sent out our first trial wool run which came back a great success! Sales of our roving is moving right along, and those who have already spun it are absolutely thrilled with the quality and the price. If anyone reading this blog is interested in acquiring this roving for an excellent price, simply contact our Secretary and Wool Run Coordinator Julie George at juliespins@verizon.net.
We also put our first newsletter of the year out in February, and we are planning the introduction of a UARC Calendar in 2010, along with possible UARC t-shirts/sweatshirts to offer along with it to benefit the club and enable us to offer a wider range of activities for our members. If you are considering joining UARC, now is a fabulous time to look into filling out an application and checking out what our club has to offer. As always, if there are any questions about the club or rabbits in general, please email me at amy@spangangoras.com.
Happy Bunny Breeding (and Owning!) Spring is on it’s way!
